A two day conference will be held from Thursday 3 – Friday 4 March 2016 titled ‘Champions for Change – How Sport is Tackling our Big Issues’.

The Champions for Change Conference will showcase programs where elite sport has become a platform for delivering community health outcomes and tackling social issues that are faced by health, education and community services.
The conference provides an opportunity for sport to learn from government, the private sector and philanthropists about why they view sport as an important driver to deliver health promotion programs and how sport can best position itself to leverage off these opportunities.
The plan for the conference focuses on projects and programs that fit within the following streams:
- Closing the Gap
- Connecting Cultures
- Health and Wellbeing
- Investing in Community Development – Why Sport?

The conference is prior to the AFL NAB Cup Challenge Match between Essendon and Geelong being played in Shepparton, Victoria at Deakin Reserve and the first ANZ Championship pre-season netball match between the Melbourne Vixens and Adelaide Thunderbirds to be played at Wanganui Park Secondary College on Saturday 5 March 2016.
If you register for both days of this Conference, you qualify for the special price of $10 per person to attend the netball match between the Melbourne Vixens and the Adelaide Thunderbirds, on either Saturday 5 March or Sunday 6 March. The conference targets those from the Sport and Recreation sector including Local Government, State and National Sporting Associations, Regional Sports Assemblies, Regional Sports Academies, sports clubs and associations as well as community, health, education and philanthropic sectors.
