What does it mean to belong? “Belong” is Awaken Dance Theatre Company’s latest creation, featuring exciting collaborations with dance on film, music, lighting and special effects. This work is set across 4 different households, each with a different atmosphere and vibe.

Belonging has been described as one of our most important needs, to feel accepted and included. Many have an inherent desire to be an important part of something greater than themselves, finding common ground with other people and contributing with a sense of purpose, each playing their part. When you belong, you feel happy and comfortable that you are in the right place, with the right people in the right season. When you belong, you feel at home. We will explore the concept of belonging and what this means to different people.

This piece has been inspired by the amazing young people who have contributed to Awaken over the last 6 years, finding connection and purpose and a sense of belonging with a common thread linking them. Dance! Don’t miss this amazing collaboration featuring some of our best local talent!
