The Australian Ballet is delighted to be returning to Mooroopna with a program including a classical favourite and contemporary works at Riverlinks Westside. Featuring Act III of Marius Petipa's The Sleeping Beauty, Lucas Jervies' The Vow and a specially created work by renowned choreographer Stephanie Lake Circle Electric, this is a tour not to be missed.

Performances:
Tuesday 1 August, 7:30pm
Wednesday 2 August, 7:30pm

Spreading the Joy of Dance
Experience the artistry of the dancers on stage, in celebration of their 60th year as Australia's national ballet company and over 40 years of touring our repertoire across Australia.

Curtain Raiser
For the Wednesday performance, The Australian Ballet have also invited local dance company Awaken Dance Theatre Company (ADTC), to perform a short piece they have created as a special curtain raiser. ADTC create inclusive and supportive dance environments for young people in Shepparton and are known for creating emotive dance theatre performances.

Act III of The Sleeping Beauty
Choreographed by The Australian Ballet Artistic Staff after Marius Petipa, this excerpt includes the Grand Pas de Deux from Act III and tells the timeless fairy tale of Princess Aurora, cursed to fall asleep on her 16th birthday for 100 years, before being awoken by true love’s kiss. Featuring Tchaikovsky’s famous score alongside dazzling tutus and beloved characters, The Sleeping Beauty will leave you spellbound.

Outstanding Contemporary Pieces
The program also features two contemporary pieces; Lucas Jervies’ The Vow, set at a wedding in the outback, explores the complications of love and the idea that partnership is a choice, not a destiny.

The second contemporary piece is a brand-new work Circle Electric, created by renowned choreographer Stephanie Lake. The work invites you into an intricate web of human relationships. Six dancers explore the impact we have on each other's lives - fleeting or lasting and the complex dynamics of togetherness. Love, pain, trust, conflict. The euphoria of connection, the heartache of loss. Each interaction is a slice of life. The dancers weave, collide, entangle and move in unison.

Join us for this very special tour of some of our favourite pieces, innovative new works, and additional events.

YOUTH MASTERCLASS / 1 AUGUST / 4:30PM
