Dookie is an original play by John Head and orchestrated by Wade Gregory.
Friday 18 March, 7.30pm
Saturday 19 March, 2pm & 7.30pm
Set in 2007, soldier Dean Turner returns from Afghanistan with his wounded comrade Steve, who is suffering with PTSD. Dean thinks the best place for him to recover is his home town of Dookie.
In the mean time the local community have entered a Small Town Orchestral Competition in the hope of winning enough money to build a clock tower to commemorate their WWI honour role in time for the 100th anniversary of ANZAC Day. Just one problem...they don’t have an orchestra!
Dookie is a play about the effects of war on soldiers and refugees and the healing powers of a rich community. Funny, musical, whimsical and powerful.
The play is a partnership between Shepparton Theatre Arts Group, Goulburn Valley Concert Orchestra, Shepparton Festival and Riverlinks Venues.
Audience advice: Contains some adults themes and coarse language.
