Unauthorised ticket sales hit Greater Shepparton

Many venues and festivals in Australia have experienced issues in recent years with unauthorised ticket resellers. Riverlinks also reports a recent rise in ticket reselling, commonly called ticket scalping.

Ticket scalping occurs when a ticket is resold, often at a greatly inflated price, without permission from the venue or presenter.  On occasion, the scalper will resell the ticket to multiple buyers. For this reason, venues such as Riverlinks consider this to be a breach of their terms and conditions and this may lead to the ticket being cancelled and the ticket holder being denied entry to the event.

Members of the public are advised only to purchase tickets from the authorised ticket seller, which in the case of Riverlinks shows is Riverlinks itself.

Riverlinks has become aware that online ticket resellers have been offering tickets to several of their events at highly inflated prices. These shows include Kris Kristofferson, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Land of Plenty Festival, Adam Thompson’s Bohemian Rhapsody Soundtrack Live, Ross Noble, Ian Moss and Moscow Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty.

Due to the amount of unauthorised cases at the moment, the “print at home” option for patrons who purchase tickets online has been disabled for these shows.

Manager Performing Arts and Conventions at Riverlinks, Ken Cameron says, “It’s upsetting to see customers getting scammed through resale ticket markets. Our team tries to help patrons where we can, but it isn’t always possible. We urge everyone who is buying online for Riverlinks shows only to book via the Riverlinks website. Resold tickets may not be valid and we may not be able to honour purchases.”

Riverlinks reports that there are still seats available for all of these shows and customers should not be fooled into thinking there are only a few seats remaining which is a common practice of online resellers.

The Riverlinks Box Office is open from 10am – 5pm Monday – Friday and can be contacted for enquiries on 03 5832 9511. Tickets purchased online can be picked up at any time at the Riverlinks Box Office or on the evening of the performance.
