Silvie Paladino pays tribute to Eva Cassidy

Riverlinks’ popular Afternoon Delight season commences for 2018 with Songbird: Silvie Paladino Sings the Songs of Eva Cassidy on Wednesday 7 February.

Eva Cassidy lived and performed in Washington DC, where her reputation reached almost mythical proportion, but she was relatively unknown elsewhere. It was not until after her death, when her album Songbird was posthumously released, that she became known to the rest of the world. Songbird has now sold over four million copies worldwide.

Who better to pay tribute to Eva Cassidy than Australia’s own Silvie Paladino, singing some of Eva’s most memorable arrangements: Over the Rainbow, Time After Time, Fields of Gold, Ain’t No Sunshine and many more. With a number of Green Room and Helpmann Awards, Silvie has performed roles in Hair, Cats, Miss Saigon and Mamma Mia!

“We are delighted to launch our 2018 Afternoon Delight series with such a talented singer,” said Ken Cameron, Manager Performing Arts and Conventions at Riverlinks. “Silvie is well known through her regular appearances on Carols by Candlelight as well as on classic shows such as Good Morning Australia, The Midday Show and Hey Hey It’s Saturday.”

The Afternoon Delight program is a series of monthly performances featuring top quality musical entertainers. In March, Make Mama Proud: The Liza Minnelli Story takes the stage at Riverlinks Eastbank, followed by the popular Pirates of Penzance in April.
