An intimate evening with the high priestess of Australian pop Kate Ceberano and musical partner, ARIA and Helpmann Award-winning Paul Grabowsky.
The Riverlinks Main Season officially launches next Wednesday 28 February with Love Songs – an intimate evening with the high priestess of Australian pop Kate Ceberano and musical partner, ARIA and Helpmann Award-winning Paul Grabowsky.
This very personal journey into words and music by two of Australia's most respected musicians sees reinterpretations of some of the great love songs of the past 50 years. The effect on audiences is palpable as Kate and Paul present stripped back renditions of love songs which were selected because of their ability to connect on a deep, emotional level and more importantly, because they have influenced both artists at some point in their lives.
Kate has lived a life that jazz vocalists dream of. In the wake of her 24 albums, countless awards, TV appearances, festival highlight performances and generally prolific creative output, Kate stands as the icon emerging artists appeal to for hope, integrity and pride in their work. She is more than a National Treasure - she is a cultural diplomat and carries with her the torch to light a thousand paths for the future of live jazz vocalists everywhere.
Paul's contribution to Australian jazz is vast and deep, and his influence underscores generations with his wise, wonderful and whimsical way of approaching music making. The two have not worked as intimately since their legendary heydays together at the Continental in Prahran in 1996.
“We are very much looking forward to coming up for our performance in Shepparton”, said Kate. “We always do what we love doing best, which is our love songs and having audiences enjoy themselves and fall in love all over again.”
Ken Cameron, Manager Performing Arts and Conventions at Greater Shepparton City Council said: “We are delighted to bring these wonderful musicians to Shepparton. They are icons of Australian music and international stars for very good reason. This is a fantastic opportunity to see them up close and personal with this intimate show.”
